In honor of the U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See Miguel Díaz and the U.S. Ambassador to U.N. Agencies for Food and Agriculture Ertharin Cousin, American International Club Vice President Marco Elser graciously invited AICR members to Rome's exclusive, private club, Circolo della Caccia for a black tie dinner party.
It is no surprise AICR’s Circolo della Caccia event is the best evening on our social calendar. This year it even surpassed all our expectations. The extraordinarily elegant surroundings, dining in once was Paolina Bonaparte’s bedroom and the exclusive location were only the beginning.
Joining us for the evening were our two new AICR Honorary Presidents: Ambassadors: Ertharin Cousin, U.S. Ambassador to the Rome-based U.N. Agencies for Food and Agriculture and Miguel Díaz, US Ambassador to the Holy See. When addressing our group, Ambassador Cousin enraptured guests with her charismatic welcome, Ambassador Diaz warmed us with his remarks; both inspired us with their missions.
The dinner was an experience in itself. The cheese soufflé, held aloft as it was brought into the dinning room, was astounding-- tender, trembling, redolent of cheese. The wait staff looked fine in their traditionally-clad livery and catered to our every need. We finished with a pistachio semi-freddo that was bathed in a thick, dark chocolate sauce. We thought we’d died and gone to culinary heaven.
Our members looked their best—women wore “grandma’s jewels” and men dressed in tuxedos. A big thanks to AICR Vice President Marco Elser, who invited AICR members to the Circolo della Caccia to take part in this extraordinary evening.
The Circolo della Caccia, also considered an exclusive private museum, was founded 135 years ago in 1869, and is a true privilege for those who are able to gain access to its noble doors.
For the past four years, this exclusive event was sold out.
